U.S. market research firm comScore's latest data show that in
October this year, Gmail has become the world's largest e-mail service.
This summer, google ever said that Gmail’s monthly active users has
reached to 425 million, become the world's first e-mail service, But U.S.
technology blog VentureBeat pointed out, this has a large gap between the data
and comScore data, which the latter did not consider the number of mobile users.
The date released by Microsoft Hotmail and Yahoo Mail are closer to comScore
data.
According to comScore data, the Web-based e-mail service independent
user visits are overall decline in, but Gmail first time become the first. Globally,
Yahoo Mail and Gmail to compete in the similar markets, their customers are
mainly from the United States, Japan, India, the United Kingdom and France. Hotmail,
is targeted at a different market, and its users in addition to from the United
States, Britain and France, but also from Brazil and Mexico.
Though Gmail ranked first in the worldwild, but yahoo mail is still the
leading in the U.S. market, its monthly unique visitors is 7 million more than
Gmail, and also has higher penetration. In October, 40.8% of Americans use
Yahoo Mail, use Gmail and Hotmail Americans were 36.7% and 18.9%.
