According to market research company Juniper Research report, though iphone4s success in the fourth quarter of last year had great significance to Apple, but help Apple rule the smart phone market biggest hero is iphone3GS.

Juniper Research reports in its latest research report, Apple sold 37 million iphones, almost account a quarter of the same period the total global sales of smart phones 149 million.

Juniper Research’s research report is the same as another research company Strategy Analytics’s date, Strategy Analytics estimate the fourth quarter of last year the global total sales of smart phones is 155 million, in view of different companies have different statistical methods, the fourth quarter of last year the global total sales of smart phones is 150 million.

According to earlier report, Apple exceed Samsung become the biggest smart phone manufacturer last year fourth quarter, Samsung reports that the fourth quarter of last year it sold 36.5 million smart phones in its Financial Statements, but Apple smart phones sales is 37 million. But Juniper also point that Samsung’s market share has great increased in the fourth quarter, from the same period’s 4.7% surged to 21.7% a year ago.

If don’t consider the affect of iphone4s release spur the sales frenzy and the shopping season at the end of a year, Apple’s smart phone sales will greatly decline in the fourth quarter. It means that Samsung may retake the position of the lead of smart phone market, the industry think that this situation will appear in the near future.
